Delicious holiday breads to make in your bread machine

There are plenty of other options for festive holiday breads besides the traditional fruit cake!  And most are much tastier!  🙂  But it is true that dried fruit is a common theme among holiday breads.  You will find these recipes for holiday yeast breads to be much lighter and tastier than the old standby.

Here are some of my favorite holiday breads, with links to a bread machine version of the recipe.


Pandoro is a delicious Italian sweet yeast bread, that is popular around Christmas and New Year’s.

Panettone is a wonderful Italian holiday bread made with dried fruit, raisins, almonds, and a secret essence of citrus ingredient.  I add 1/2 tsp. of King Arthur Flour’s Fiori di Sicilia (adjust quantity to your taste) to this recipe to make this bread really special and authentic.

Stollen is a traditional German Christmas bread with dried fruit (in this recipe blueberries and cherries) and nuts that is covered with powdered sugar.  It is also known as Weinachtsstollen.
